The State Board of Education is taking public comments for proposed changes to school standards.

The changes apply to English, Language Arts, and Mathematics for kindergarten through high school.

Alaska Education Commissioner Mike Hanley says the proposed standards will set high expectations for students and help to make them more college ready.

If you want to weigh in, the commission will be accepting comments through May 12, 2012.
