National Weather Service Considers New Terminology
'Advisory,' 'watch' and 'warning' may get updated

ANCHORAGE - When it comes to weather words, do you know the difference between an advisory, a watch and a warning?
Many of you say no. That's why NOAA and the Federal Forecasting Agency is considering more simplified approach.
Over the past few years the National Weather Service has been getting more comments that its weather lingo is just too confusing.
Meteorologists say they are considering replace its 14 different kinds of watches, advisories, and warnings for winter weather, but some don't want to give up the jargon they've used for generations.
