From the mean streets, to a new home. An orphaned moose calf has new digs after being found under an overpass in Palmer.

 
Following its rescue from the roadway last week, the calf spent a few days at the Alaska Zoo before heading to its new home at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage. Staff at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center said they are keeping a 24-hour watch on the calf, with frequent feedings.
 
Many of the people caring for the moose are interns, getting their first taste of what it is like to work with large, wild animals. Conservation center workers said the calf will be moved to a public enclosure within the next few weeks. Which is when Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center staff believes the young moose will be able to change its diet from milk to things like fireweed and willow branches.
