Officers were called to the intersection of College Road and Illinois Street at 1:30 a.m. after a cab driver reported seeing a man held up at gunpoint. The victim of the robbery, 26-year-old Evan L. Gibson, could be heard in the background of the call saying he had a warrant out for his arrest and did not want to make a report to police, according to FPD records. He was contacted near Geraldo's restaurant, where he told police the robber took $100 from him at gunpoint. Gibson was arrested on a $250 warrant out of Unalaska related to a drunken driving case. The robber, who remains at large, is described as a black male between 5 feet 11 inches tall and 6 feet 1 inch tall. He is between 20 and 35 years old and has a thin build. At the time of the robbery he was wearing dark clothing and rode away from the scene on a red ten-speed bike, Lt. Jim Geier said. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Fairbanks police at 450 |
