Sens. Begich and Murkowski, Rep. Young, Gov. Parnell and Lt. Gov. Campbell  released statements about Wednesday's fatal C-17 crash at Elmendorf AFB.  

U.S. Sen. Mark Begich 
Released 9:36 p.m. July 28 
 
"The service members of our National Guard sacrifice daily to defend our nation and make our state safe. My thoughts and prayers are with the extended National Guard family tonight. Certainly every Alaskan is deeply saddened by this accident. I urge all Alaskans to include these brave Guardsmen and their families in their prayers."
 
Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell 
Released 9:45 p.m. July 28 
 
"Sandy and I were saddened to learn of the military plane crash this evening. Alaskans are very connected to the military and our thoughts and prayers are with Alaska's Air Force Family." 
 
U.S. Rep. Don Young 
Released 6:00 a.m. July 29 
 
"This is a tragedy in every sense of the word.  The military community is a very large part of what makes Alaska such a great state.  I was incredibly saddened to learn of the crash and I extend my most heartfelt sympathies and prayers to the men, women, and families of our active duty personnel and National Guard members.  You bravely protect Alaska each and every day, and today Alaska mourns with you."  
 
U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski

"I am deeply saddened by the news of this terrible accident. Incidents like this remind us that whether in training or in battle there is inherent danger in the warrior's profession. We must never forget that their's is a life of selfless sacrifice in defense of our freedom. I urge all Alaskans to join me in keeping the families and friends affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and prayers." 
 
Lt. Gov. Craig Campbell 
Released 10:42 a.m. July 29
 
"Anne Marie and I send our thoughts and prayers to the families of the airmen lost last evening. As Lieutenant Governor and former Adjutant General of the Alaska National Guard, this tragedy hits home.  I grieve alongside the families and friends of those lost and encourage people of all faiths to hold the families up in prayer during this very difficult time. God bless."
