Jury Selection Continues in Anthony Rollins Case

Rollins, a veteran Anchorage police officer, is accused of sexually assaulting multiple women while on duty.

At the Nesbett Courthouse in downtown Anchorage, jury selection continued in the trial of Anthony Rollins, a veteran Anchorage police officer accused of sexually assaulting multiple women while on duty. 

Rollins is been charged with 20 counts of raping or sexually assaulting five women, but as many as 20 women have come forward claiming Rollins victimized them as well.

The judge will allow one of the women to testify to show what the prosecution calls Rollins' "pattern of predatory behavior."

Friday, 13 people were excused from the potential jury pool. Tuesday, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Philip Volland said roughly half of the potential jurors had some kind of experience with sexual assault but very few knew details regarding the Rollins case.

"My reaction to the questionnaires was somewhat to my surprise. I did not see that we had a pretrial issue, that is, there were very few who seemed to remember any of the details of this case which surprised me," said Judge Volland.

Opening statements are expected Wednesday.
