Holiday Train Made Season Extra JoyousAlaska Railroad sold out four holiday tripsANCHORAGE - Hundreds of people got into the holiday spirit a little early, thanks to the Alaska Railroad. The last of the four sold-out trips left the station Saturday afternoon. As the train snaked along the Seward Highway, the dreary day outside was brightened up with Christmas cheer inside the passenger cars. “Jingle bells, jingle bells,” kids shouted at the top of their lungs. “Jingle all the way!” Parents also participated in the sing-a-long while kids got some one on one time with the big guy himself. “What do you want for Christmas?” asked Santa Claus. “A train!” replied a blond haired little boy wearing a conductor’s hat. A few cars down, singers from Victory and Deliverance delivered classic carols… with a twist. “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year… cha cha cha!” But it was the "12 Days of Christmas" that really got the crowd rocking. “I loved the way this choir did the '12 Days of Christmas.' They did it very well. Normally I don't care for it,” laughed passenger Penny May. The two-hour trek had some tots tuckered out, but most were on a sugar high from candy canes and cocoa that had them literally dancing in the aisles. The quick trips got kids and their parents on track to have a very Merry Christmas. |
