Gas Prices Rising, Locally and Nationwide
According to the Oil Price Information Service, the national average has increased for 25 consecutive days

ANCHORAGE - Gas prices have been on the rise since December and are looking to go even higher.
Nationwide, the price of gas has jumped more than 50 cents since December 20. Right now a gallon of regular unleaded in Anchorage costs between $3.65 and $3.72.
According to the Oil Price Information Service, the national average has increased for 25 consecutive days, and if the trend continues, we may see prices back up in the $4 range.
"There's a lot of things influencing it. The price of crude is going up, some refineries have shut down, OPEC is lowering its output and summer time is coming. It always seems to go up a little bit in the summer," said Nelson Garrett, the owner of Garrett's Tesoro on International and Arctic in Anchorage.
Around the state, Juneau and Fairbanks are seeing prices around $3.80 a gallon. Nome residents are paying $6.15. Dillingham is at $6.89 and residents there say they've heard some of the villages in the Bristol Bay area are paying up to $10 a gallon.
