You may have heard that a Fur Rondy Princess was fired but that rumor is untrue according to the Fur Rondy Royalty Committee.

Organizers said Marlise Williams, a senior at Bartlett High School, decided to resign from the role so she could concentrate on her studies.

Committee members said that Williams wants to maintain her 3.92 grade point average so she can get a college scholarship and juggle a busy work schedule.

"When she saw how much time was going to be required out of her schedule to do it, she and her mother had a discussion and decided it would be best if she basically did step down and pay attention to her studies. We really respect that a great deal,” said Fur Rondy coordinator Ernie Hall.

Committee members said Williams made the right call and she will get to keep her tiara.
