ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Airport is the latest to get a new, faster security screening for certain passengers.

It’s called Pre Check. Selected passengers go through a separate line where they can keep on their shoes, light jackets and belts. Laptops and quart-sized baggies of liquids can stay in their carry on luggage as well. Pre Check isn’t for everyone though, only for people who’ve been invited in by airlines, usually frequent flyers.

“Just like anyone else, the amount of time you spend standing in line makes a difference, especially when you're in the airport -- in my case -- two or three times a week. For the business traveler it adds a lot of convenience,” said David Karp, who has been using Pre Check lanes at other airports around the country for a few months.

The program started in 2011 with four airports. Anchorage is the 33rd to get Pre Check. Two more airports are scheduled to get in before the end of the year: Orange County and Fort Lauderdale.
