Fans Fight to Keep Indoor Football League AliveThe owners of the Fairbanks Grizzlies, the last indoor football league in Alaska, announced the team would play for the last time, but fans are fighting to keep the team alive. The last indoor football league in Alaska is fighting to keep their team on the field. The Fairbanks Grizzlies were unable to cover $100,000 in workmen's compensation expenses, so owners announced Friday that the team would play for the last time Saturday night in Washington. But Grizzlies fans and the Indoor Football League commissioner have other plans for the players. Tonight, the group is rallying at Boston's Pizza in Fairbanks to raise money. They've already gained over $9,000 in pledges. No word yet on a decision, but the IFL commissioner says there may be more games ahead. |
