Drone Conference Underway in AnchorageAttendees explore arctic applications for unmanned aerial vehiclesRelated ContentANCHORAGE - When you hear the word "drones," what do you think of? Probably a military aircraft that is unmanned and armed. Anchorage is hosting a three-day conference on drones that is bringing together people from all over the country. But the types of drones they are talking about are small, unmanned flying machines that most often have a video camera – not a gun. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is co-hosting the conference that's brought in experts from all over the country. The camera carrying drones can be used for a number of purposes in a state where it's difficult to get around. “[To] assist in determining what the consequences might be of a massive earthquake in the Anchorage area, you could go out and evaluate the conditions of bridges and roads, then you know how to deploy your scarce assets of structural engineers and so forth,” said Ro Bailey, of the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Geophysical Institute Researchers say the unmanned aircraft can be valuable for scientific research in Alaska. The army bases Fairbanks and Anchorage have drones that are strictly for surveillance that could already be used for this purpose. If the army would set up a place for them to used on a regular basis, they could also help patrol for fires

I think this is a first step in eliminating the reckless drivers and dangerous drivers. Just call in and the drone locates them. And a second drone launches a paint missle and they will be easy to find and ticket. The second time, well lets just say the missle gets bigger.
