ANCHORAGE - The Alyeska Resort tram may be back in operation by mid-February. It's still closed as crews repair the damage it sustained after high winds knocked it into a support tower on New Year's Eve.

Alyeska's Marketing Director Jessica Pezak said all the parts have to be custom made in Europe and repairs will be made by Alyeska staff.

Pezak said even though the tram is down, all of the mountain is open for recreation. "Chair 6 is operating and it's snowing like crazy here and the terrain is unbelievable. Customers can have absolutely the same access on the ski and snowboard side as they did before," said Pezak.

The Seven Glaciers restaurant will be closed until the tram is running.
