Cookie Dough Business Helps Developmentally DisabledArc of Anchorage partners with bakeryANCHORAGE - The Arc of Anchorage is getting into the cookie business with its very own cookie dough. It's called Busy Bakers cookie dough. Through a partnership with Illusions Foods Company the, the Arc was able to hire two Alaskans with developmental disabilities to work with the company. The new employees prepare the dough at Illusions and a percentage of all the profits they make goes back to the Arc. “I would rather offer a helping hand then a hand out and offer somebody a job, somebody that may be challenged, somebody through no fault of their own can't compete on an equal footing but can still have the opportunity to make a living,” said Illusions’ owner Dave Walker. Busy Baker cookie dough comes in two varieties, chocolate chip and peanut butter and is available now at Chevron stores will be found soon on Fred Meyer’s shelves. |
