Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against Weidner Properties

Tenants claim the private landlord takes out too much from security deposits for cleaning, painting and repairs. One tenant says he was charged $45/hour for cleaning and another $45/hour for maintenance services.

My lease ends on April 30 and because I didn't give proper notice that I wont renew my lease they automatically entered me into a month to month lease and they are now telling me I owe another months rent and pay electricity and water in advance before he gets the water and electric bill. so upon move out I owe 1,575,00

I moved in to a Weidner property in August of 2012. I filled out all the paper work and told them there are several repairs to be made. It is now February and they have not touched a thing!! I would not have rails in my frig doors if I didn't walk over to the office myself and pick them up and install them. There is no security in the building at all! The front door lock is broken and when I went to the office to say something about it, I was told it would be fixed later in the week. It has been 2 months now. I could go on and on...

Weidner apartments are DUMPS, there really is no other way to put it. I was told by the maintenance man when they replaced the stove to put away the new drip pans and use the old ones because they charge $35.00 a set. They did replace the dishwasher and refrigerator after I told them that I will seek preofessional advise on not paying the rent until all the items are fixed. A wall needed to be painted and they said no problem we will get it done after waiting my husband decided to paint it. Also the door from the apartment going outsid to the porch needed to be replaced it was never done. The so called locked doors were not working we had drunks and druggies in the hallway all the time had to call police to have them taken out. Two people found in the boiler room naked. Talk about security Hahahaha That is weidner pay the money and shut up. They do keep part of your deposit to clean the place. we had cleaned high and low and received compliments on how clean we left it. this is true

I currently live in a Weidner apt. and do not like it. In order for the apt to be livable they would have to do a full make over. The walls have mold growing inside and outside of them. I had previously chatted with the maintenance man and he said that they do the most minimum of work to save money. That is the truth, they won't fix or replace my dishwasher for one of the items that is needed. They had replaced the windows under the government refund, but it is worse now than before. When you open the blinds you feel a burst of cold with a continuous breeze. If you don't open the blinds then you get ice on the inside and more mold. Fun, Fun, Fun living here. To bad, I know not to expect my deposit back when I move out.

Our family just moved into an apartment 3 months ago that is managed by Weidner. It has been a very bad experience; it has been one thing after another & very extreme. We have not had any issues with prior landlords before we moved into this nightmare. This was a HUGE mistake, we are stuck for 6 more months & I would never recommend them to anyone. If there is an open investigation, our family also has several issues & concerns that have been ignored. We have other circumstances & are too busy to fight against everything they keep doing. Now that we see we are not the only one, we are willing to help if it is taken to a legal action to help this stop. We thought we were downsizing to save & purchase a home. It has cost us more headache, money & time to rent through them.

I recently stayed at Strawberry Meadows apts. I originally rented from a company called lithgoe but Weidner bought them out. The rent went from 975 with Lithgoe to 1125 with Weidner and they did no renovations. This happened this year and I know alot of people are having to move from those buildings. STAY AWAY FROM WEIDNER! It is in your best interest.

Poor customer service, terrible attitudes. I had a car towed from the parking lot because they said it was parked illegally. Well, there was an outlet for that space so it was obviously designed for a car to be parked there. I fought it with the help of the municipal ombudsman and was able to get them to pay for the towing fee and tower's storage fee while I was fighting it. Good thing I didn't let that go. It sounds like I was treated with the normal amount of respect/decency they give everyone else. I was only 17 at that time so maybe they thought they could mess with me and not get caught. I wonder whose bonus was robbed to pay for my car being illegally towed...

I rented from Weidner for nearly ten years and when I moved out they screwed me over to the tune of $541 due to them saying I didnt give them notice when I did in writng 3 times but not on their forms. So it wasnt official. I am still fighting it.

I moved out of Heritage hills in renton wa in february 2012. two of us on the lease returned the keys by the 10th of the month. My husband was going to on friday, but NO ONE was in the office. Finally on tuesday the manager was in the office, and told my husband that they ripped up the carpet , started painting and had already sent a bill to collections, and accused us of abandoning the apartment, wtf ! They said the carpet was urined stained (NOT) and the walls were dirty (NOT) they wanted us to pay 1600.00 for new carpet (IT WAS OLD CARPET WHEN WE MOVED IN)These people broke into the apartment and did'nt let us do a walk through. Claimed we abandoned the apartment , when we could'nt get a hold of anyone to do a walk through. I can not beleive what they are trying to do to us. This company is not trust worthy, don't rent from this company , be warned. I want justice, they are destroying my good credit. connie, frank, andrew

I live in a more upscale Weidner property in Anchorage, I've been here for seven months and three of the months I have had 5 separate leaks in my ceiling, their solution was to put trashcans under the leaks until they could get around to repairing them. Then they said they could not repair them until the leaks stopped on their on??? they still expect me to pay rent in full when I have leaks in every room of my condo!!! I would say to anyone looking to rent in Alaska....STAY AWAY FROM WEIDNER...especially ADMIRALS COVE APARTMENTS!!!!

I have rented from Weider for 7 years at first they were a great company to rent from. Caring And helpful but professional. Now they are greedy men and women who work more for their bonuses and money than their renters. they half fix things to save money. and are told to find things wrong so you dont get your whole deposit back in the end now so they can get their bonuses.

I moved into a Weidner apartment a couple of years ago before my wife and I bought our house. I got my whole deposit back, and the lady in charge of where I lived was great. So not every experience is bad. Get a grip people. I am sure over the years more than a hand full has lived in a Weidner apartment. Yet just a few have said something. Hmmmmm.

I used to work for Weidner and I used to get written up and yelled at for not collecting a certain amount of money from resident's deposits. It was in our budgets as revenue so we had to collect all that money to make our budget. They are the worst apartment management company in town.

Rented a condo under the "Rental Partnership Program" the first time we were stationed here in 2000. The bathroom flooded everytime the upstairs unit did their laundry. I was 8 mnths pregnant and all Weidner would do was say "Mop up the bathroom and ask the upstairs unit not to do their laundry." Shawna (SP?) was the one we dealt with at the time. She couldn't even call & tell us the unit was ready after several delays when we first rented. Moved out as soon as soon as base housing was available.

weidner did the same thing to me. i waqs there for three years, and it was dirty when i mived in and soon the toliet didnt work there was water damage from the apt up stairs when i finally moved out the charged me 1050 45 for cleaning 200 because we threw our furniture away it was badf .. i need to know how to get in on this class action lawsiut plaes tell me if anyone knows .... my name is brian and my email address is capt_morgen3@yahoo.com

Weidner properties is one of the worst apartment leasing/renting operations I have encountered. Their apartments are unclean when they lease them out (I found massive stained nail clippings in the carpet), there was no heat for 4 days in a row in the middle of a very cold winter, the bathroom fixtures did not work,the laundromat was filty.....I could go on. I kept documentation and asked them to fix the place or release me form the lease. They refused at first but later moved me to another apartment unit. Things did not improve very much and I moved out. Very very bad experience!
