State troopers are warning everyone to be careful after another bear attack, this time in the village of Kake, located on Kupreanof Island in Southeast Alaska.

Kake's Village Public Safety officer says just after 10:30 Monday morning, a 17-year-old boy was walking near the village's high school when he spotted two black bear cubs, but did not see the cubs' mother.

The teen told troopers that's when the black mother bear came out of nowhere, and slapped him on his left side.   The teen said he tried to defend himself, but was pushed into a ditch and knocked unconscious.

The 17-year-old told officers that when he woke up, the bear was gone.  The teen then walked to a nearby clinic to be checked for his injuries, which were found to be minor.

After the attack, the VPSO started warning all village residents to look out for the sow and her cubs and use extreme caution if they are seen.

So far, there's no sign of the bear trio, but residents say they'll remain very vigilant.
