ANCHORAGE - A man got quite a surprise Wednesday evening when he thought he heard his son come through the front door – and it turned out to be a black bear.

"I went to the front door and there was a small black bear standing there, right at the door, and he immediately ran up, whiffed and ran upstairs. And unfortunately there is only one way up and down the stairs,” said Bruce Talbot.

The bear ran upstairs and spent an hour in one of the bedrooms before running out of the house right in the middle of our interview with the homeowner.

Bruce Talbot said his family has lived in East Anchorage for 30 years and is used to seeing bears around – but never before in the house.

Fish and Game said there have been about three reports of bears getting into people's homes this year.
