Anchorage Toddler Found Wandering In Street

The mother has been arrested on an outstanding warrent, and the child remained in state custody Wednesday night.

An unidentified toddler wandering in the road near Hanes Street and the Old Seward Highway yesterday sent police scrambling to find his parents or guardians.

The boy, believed to be around 18 months old, was first spotted by a passer-by around 1 p.m.

Police where unable to locate his parents or other guardian in the area, and he was taken into state custody.

Shortly thereafter, police said they located the mother, who claimed to have switched medications and fallen asleep.

The mother has been arrested on an outstanding warrent, and the child remained in state custody Wednesday night.
