Anchorage Legislator Wants State to Pay for VaccinationsBill to be introduced to provide vaccines for people who can't afford them
An Anchorage legislator says she thinks the state should pay to keep vaccinations free for children and adults who can't afford them.
Big cuts in federal funding have led the state to drop several shots that were once offered for free. That includes flu shots for many children next year and tetanus shots for adults. Senator Cathy Giessel says there are plenty of people who could be affected. Giessel estimates it would cost the state between four and six million dollars to bring the program back to its full level. She'll introduce a bill that would do just that when the legislature reconvenes in January. |
