Minor flooding still causing homeowners issues

ANCHORAGE - It's been raining here in Anchorage pretty hard, but we're not seeing nearly the problems with flooding as other areas of Southcentral. The city says it hasn't had too many problems, but is keeping a close eye on Chester Creek and other rivers that have received an abundance of rain. Officials say downed trees in the areas that they haven't been able to get to is their major concern, before flooding.

As for homes and businesses, one local company, Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling, said they have received a dozen phone calls about flooding, and that many residents see all the rain but don't realize they have a problem until it's too late.

Josh Lenaghen of Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling said, "The longer the water sits there, the more chance it will have other effects afterwards. It could dry in place, but if it sits to long then your sheet rock will start coming down and [having] issues with mold after it sits a few more days."

Here in Anchorage, more than 1.8 inches of rain in two and a half days has flooded homes and local lakes. With another half-inch of rain tonight expected tonight, many are ready for the joy coming in the morning: some well deserved sunshine.
