Local Veterans React To Bin Laden's DeathLocal veterans say the news of Osama bin Laden's death brings mixed emotions, but for the most part agree it's a victory for soldiers serving across the world.Veterans across the Anchorage community are in shock over the news of Osama bin Laden's death, and many say it's a bitter sweet victory for soldiers across the nation. Several vets from the local "John Noyes" VFW in Mountain View said they are happy to hear about Bin Laden's death, because it would bring some fullfilmment to the thousands of families who have lost loved ones during the Iraq War. 65-year-old John Taylor, a Vietnam Vet from Anchorage said it's been a long journey for many who longed for some form of justice. "I think there will be some fulfillment to some of the families, the soldiers that died, this is what they were supposed to be doing, going for Osama bin Laden," he said. " But it's not going to fill a void in a whole lot of people's lives." |
