The Alaska Native Heritage Center announced Monday that it will soon offer an interactive tour available for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad before opening day on May 8, 2011.

Work began on the project in October 2010 under contract with GuideOne, a mobile application development company.

The app will feature:

  • Interactive walking tour of village sites
  • Hall of Culture
  • Photos and video
  • Multi-lingual capabilities
  • Quizzes
  • Scavenger hunts
  • Event notifications

Visitors without an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad can still experience the interactive tour and rent an iPod touch from the Ticketing Office.

There are plans to make the app available for Blackberry and Android.
