ANCHORAGE - After weeks of waiting in Talkeetna, extreme mountain climber Lonnie Dupre finally made it to Denali.

The 51-year-old Minnesota native is attempting to become the first person to ever solo summit the mountain in January.

Dupre's been in Talkeetna since before New Year's preparing for the trip. He's taking nearly 200 pounds of gear including more than a month's worth of food that can be stretched to 45 days if needed.

This will be his third try at a January summit. Last year a storm kept him at 17,000 feet for more than a week before he made the decision to turn back.
