A Reason to Stand up To CancerThere are moments in your life that shape you and that change youANCHORAGE - There are moments in your life that shape you and that change you. For me it was seeing my grandpa cry because the man who could fix anything simply didn’t know what else to do. My grandmother was diagnosed with uterine cancer when I was in my early teens. She and my grandfather are people who I have always seen as strong. They are people that to this day I go visit when I need a safe haven or just a hug.

A day dosen't go by without my thoughts being about my deceased wife Mary, who experienced extreme pain from cancer. It was difficult for myself and family to observe her emotions and mood changes which affected her life. I, like others, would have loved to take away a loved ones pain away, but how?
