5.0 Earthquake Shakes Southcentral Alaska

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says a 5.0 magnitude earthquake rattled Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

The Alaska Earthquake Information Center says a 5.0 magnitude earthquake rattled Anchorage and Southcentral Alaska at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday night.

 
The quake was centered 16 miles west-northwest of Willow and 48 miles north-northwest of Anchorage.
 
Tweeters and Facebookers from around the area reported shaking all the way from Girdwood to Talkeetna.   Some people in Eagle River reported drinks spilling and a clock may have fallen off the wall at the Willow Fire Hall.
 
The quake was relatively shallow at a depth of 12 miles.  
 
The earthquake did not trigger a tsunami.
 
So far, there are no reports of any damage or injuries as a result of the tremors.
