ANCHORAGE - Instead of taking it easy during spring break next week, 20 Anchorage School District juniors and seniors will take advanced carpentry and weatherization classes.

The Spring Construction Institute, which began today, offers certification opportunities to students who are part of the state's job clubs at the youth job center.

The students develop skills in carpentry, electrical wiring, mechanics, plumbing and other construction-related fields.

"It's a great class. People may not think it's a great idea to sacrifice their spring break, for instance, to learn something like this, but in the long run it is so worth it," says Arthur David, one of the students.
