Alaska Welcomes First Veterans MuseumThe first Alaskan Veterans Memorial Museum opened to the public this weekend.
Patriotic sounds of the brass Air Force band bounced off the walls of the Alaska Veterans Memorial Museum Sunday with hundreds gathered to commemorate what many called a decade of a dream.
"Even though Alaska is home to the most veteran population, highest vet population per capita, of any state in the union, it did not have a vet museum. Today that changes," said Alaska Veterans Museum President Suellyn Wright Novak. The concept for the museum began back in 2001 and cost $6.5 million. |
