Get Your Spook On For A Scary Low PriceHalloween is right around the corner – it’s the one filled with spiders and cobwebs. Value Village store manager Matthew Krug and costumer consultant Sandy Susky have the know-how to get you a costume contest-winning look.
Halloween is fast approaching and Value Village store manager Matthew Krug and costume consultant Sandy Susky have great tips to get your spook on while staying on a budget.
First off, forget about the out-of-date styles of yesteryear’s thrift stores. Long gone are the days of heading to thrift stores just for older styles. Now you can find up-to-date fashions, full costume selections and brand name items for a fraction of department store prices. Popular costumes for kids this season are based on the ever-present super hero. After a summer filled with blockbuster comic book characters flying to the big screen, it’s no surprise that these big heroes come in kid-sized costumes. And for your little princess, why not let her dress as full-blown royalty this Halloween? Fairy princess costumes are easy to personalize with a crown made of flowers or candy instead of jewels! For the lady of the house, another silver screen-themed costume is slated to be a crowd pleaser of an ensemble—the black swan ballerina from the movie of the same name. It marries the fluffy fun of a tutu with great theatrical makeup. Interested in a more traditional costume? Grab a long gray wig, some clothes to rip up, and add some gray and white makeup and you’ve got a simple, classic zombie look. |
