I say they should find someone who either has been born & raised in Alaska-anywhere here, or someone who has been here for a long time & participates in what most lifelong Alaskans do-fish, hunt, camp, hike, snowmachine, snowboard, etc. I'm an Alaskan Native, but I don't believe that it HAS to be a Native.

what exaclty is a real alaskan, i grew up on the yukon, went to high school in anchorage, joined the military went all over the counrty n moved back to the yukon, whatever u define as a real alaskan, hope u dont do a bad job, as we alaskans, most of us in the rural areas have to know everything, our own mechanics, butcherers, hairstylists, plummers, etc we dont have the luxury of looking in the phonebook yellow pages for every little thing

Native Alaskans: THE REAL ALASKANS WE (Natives) have what it takes to survive in the harsh conditions of rural ALASKA given the unpredicable weather. We can survive off subsistance for long periods of time: dried herring, seal, musk ox, salmon, geese, etc. without having to rely on store bought food.

Isn't R5 sons a reality show? And if thats Real Alaskan then that's an Epic Failed version. Maybe they should choose someone from Anchorage. They of all people can survive the concrete jungle and the wilderness.

I live in Los Anchorage, not by choice but by necessity, it is where the work is. with that said, I have plenty of life lived outside Los Anchorage hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, camping, 4x4ing and surviving in the great Alaskan outdoors. anyone who thinks because I live here I can't be a real Alaskan is full of HOOEY!

They need to come to soggy SE Alaska and check out some of the smaller rural communities with NO road access, only float plane's and boat's. See some of the REAL Alaskan's who live in Tenakee Springs!

I fully support the old saying that "Anchorage is 30 minutes from Alaska" but (being a lifelong Alaskan), I don't buy the statement that there aren't real Alaskans in Anchorage

If, they are looking for real Alaskans they need to go to real Alaska, not Anchorage.
