Six girls from the Cook Inlet Soccer Club have been recruited to play university-level soccer.

Wednesday afternoon, the club held its National Signing Day and announced which schools the girls would be heading off to in the fall.

One notable player, Kelly Cobb who played for the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team, will head to Duke University next year.

"I've had a lot of support playing soccer and a lot of good coaches here from Alaska. Coming from a state that's not prominently known for athletics outside in the United States…it's good to see people succeeding," said Cobb.

Other colleges that signed Cook Inlet Soccer Club players include: The University of Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Dominguez Hills, Macalaster College, and The Savannah Art Institute.
