The Alaska State Fair is getting set for its big opening day on Thursday, and there’s a lot to do to get ready at the Palmer fairgrounds.

Vendors are putting the finishing touches on their booths, performers are getting ready for their shows and inspectors are giving the rides a once over.

Fair organizers are hoping for good weather and a great turnout this year.

There are several new attractions this year including two new rides, several food booths and a brand new bar. Also new this year is a “no smoking” policy. Smoking will only be allowed in six designated areas of the fairgrounds.

The gates open in Palmer at noon on Thursday with a special admission price between
noon and 2 p.m. for just two dollars.

wow jjj, I've read three or four of your postings just today and it appears you are disappointed with pretty much everything. You appear to be a pretty negative person so not much can make you happy. Feel sorry for those around you. What a pain you must be for anyone trying to please you. lol. useless.
