It was harvest day over at the Alaska Botanical Garden where the Children's Lunchbox got to reap the rewards.
As part of the garden's third annual event, local farmers donated fresh fruit, vegetables and grains to the program that helps feed nutritious meals to low income kids around town. Children’s Lunchbox officials say the support will make sure they can continue feeding hungry boys and girls. “We are really blessed. It’s a huge help for our program and we will use all of the fresh produce in this week to feed the kids in the community,” said Lynette Ortolano of the Children's Lunchbox The Alaska Botanical Garden also waived its admission for Saturday’s harvest and instead accepted canned goods that will also be donated to the Children's Lunchbox. |
