New housing facility for city’s mentally ill unveiled

ANCHORAGE – Come May, a new housing option will be available to six Anchorage adults coping with mental illness.

Anchorage Community Mental Health Services unveiled the Fairview property at a ribbon-cutting event this week.

The estimated cost of the project was $750,000, which was paid for by the state and foundation grants.

According to ACMHS, the four individual units are equipped with modern amenities, security cameras and a 24-hour, onsite staff.

The added services are expected to help tenants with the rehabilitation process.
