Alaska’s Native leaders are sharing with each other how to make their villages more successful.
They’re gathered in Anchorage this week for the 6th annual Native Village CEO Association Conference.
Decision-makers from all over the state are networking, supporting one another and learning from mistakes.
In addition to educational sessions, attendees learn about political issues that affect them directly.
At this year’s conference the focus is mining and resource development.
“This conference here will provide information to those landowners about how to best protect their resource, how to approach companies that will be coming up on their lands potentially to do development, and just give them tools to respond to those economic development ideas,” said Ana Hoffman, president and CEO of Bethel Native Corporation.
During the two-day conference, attendees will also hear from gubernatorial and Senate candidates.
