SITKA – Moorage rates are going up more than 6 percent in Sitka.
KCAW reports the Sitka Assembly has approved the hike effective New Year’s Day. It will take the per-foot monthly charge for permanent berths from $2.64 to $2.80.
This increase was part of a master plan done in 2012. It also calls for similar increases in each of the next three years.
Even with the increase, Sitka will remain in third place for most expensive harbors in Southeast, behind Juneau and Petersburg. The radio station reports that compared to other harbors across the state, Valdez, Kodiak, Seward and Homer are all more expensive than Sitka.
