The string quartet was created by Homer-raised composer Conrad Winslow and performs pieces created by contemporary composers from across the circumpolar north. The group’s music selection comes from countries like Finland, Russia, Iceland, Denmark, Canada, and the United States.
The Mivos Quartet is part of the Anchorage Museum’s Polar Lab artists-in-residence program.
On Friday, March 10, Mivos Quartet will perform in the museum’s planetarium with some newly created visuals, which the Anchorage Museum said is a first for the planetarium.
Performances are at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include museum admission.
The quartet will also close out its museum residency with a concert during the Wells Fargo Free Day on Saturday, March 11, at 1 p.m. in the Polar Bear Garden exhibition.
