Grammy award-winning producer, engineer and performer Larry Mitchell has toured the world playing guitar. He joined Daybreak to talk Grammys and perform for a Monday edition of Mic Check in the Morning.
“I produce a lot of Native American music,” Mitchell said. “It’s why I’m in Alaska too. I produced for an artist named Johnny Whitehorse, also known as Robert Mirabal. We did a series of three records. The first one got a lot of mention. The second one won the Grammy. I produced, engineered and mixed it, as well as played a lot of instruments on it.”
Mitchell says he feels lucky to have won a Grammy.
“It’s helped me go places and see things and work with other great musicians,” he said.
You can watch Larry Mitchell perform at Spirit: The 7th Fire of Alaska at the Discovery Theatre in the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts Feb. 20-22. For tickets, go here.
