Recall group says it's not shocked by the result
ANCHORAGE – The effort to recall state Rep. Lindsey Holmes was denied by the Division of Elections.
The Recall Lindsey Holmes Group was told it didn’t have grounds for a recall vote. The elections office did verify, however, that the group does have enough signatures.
“We are disappointed, but hardly surprised by the result,” the group stated in a press release. “The recall group had anticipated that the Lieutenant Governor, Mead Treadwell, and the Director of the Division of Elections would likely deny the application.”
The recall effort was prompted by Holmes switching parties from Democrat to Republican at the start of the legislative session. The group has 30 days to appeal the ruling and said it intends to do so.
“We do not see this as a setback,” the release said.
