Juneau firefighters got an unexpected delivery: 960 rolls of toilet paper.
The gift was from toilet paper maker Charmin, which donated a year’s supply for 20 firefighters to one firehouse in every state.
KTOO reports (http://is.gd/2Q4SDx) the Auke Bay Fire Station was the official winner for Alaska, but the prize is being divided among all Juneau firehouses.
Entries were made online, and the Capital City Fire and Rescue Department didn’t know it won until the package arrived.
Assistant Chief Ed Quinto says it would cost the department $1,200 to buy that amount of toilet paper.
There’s another benefit. Quinto says the donated rolls are not the industrial type the department usually buys in bulk.
He says firefighters appreciate the softer, residential type of toilet paper that was delivered.
