Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell held a slight lead early Wednesday in the Republican race for US House.

With 85% of Alaska precincts reporting, Parnell held a 213-vote lead over the incumbent, U.S. Representative Don Young.

Results were more clear on the Democratic side.

Ethan Berkowitz won the Democratic race with 60% of the vote. Diane Benson took 40%.

Parnell says he's satisfied with how his campaign played out in the five months he had to get it up and running.

He says he wanted to offer Alaskans a reform alternative candidate.

Young spent election night at his home in Fort Yukon, a village of about 600 on the Yukon River about 154 miles northeast of Fairbanks.

Young says in a statement he remains confident that he will prevail when absentee votes are counted and remaining precincts are reported.
