An internal investigation into the actions of the Anchorage Fire Department’s budget manager, Aliesha Richards, is complete.
Municipal Manager Mike Abbott says the investigation determined that no material resources of the municipality were misused.
The investigation was requested after the Municipality of Anchorage Employee Relations Department received information eluding to possible fiscal mismanagement by Richards.
“A thorough investigation is underway to account for and address any potential misuse of municipal resources,” Myer Hutchinson, Communications Director for the Municipality of Anchorage, told KTVA in an email.
KTVA received a similar packet of information that contained thousands of messages sent between Richards and fire department employees as well as employees of the muni’s information technology department. Many of the messages were intimate and unprofessional in nature.
Several union and non-union employees of the Anchorage Fire Department were interviewed as part of the investigation, which began on November 22 and concluded on December 2. The investigation was conducted by members of several municipal departments including employee relations, AFD and the muni’s legal department.
Richards remains on administrative leave following the conclusion of the investigation. An internal memo to all fire department employees instructs them not to give Richards access to any MOA software, hardware systems or networks and not to discuss work-realted topics with Richards while she’s on leave.
