In rural Alaska, March Madness is real

The tournament is 38 games over five days with 22 teams, boys and girls

UNALAKLEET – It’s basketball season, and more specifically, tournament season. At Unalakleet School, the Bering Sea Conference Basketball Tournament was in full swing with a matchup between the Shishmaref Northern Lights and the Shaktoolik Wolverines Friday.

Shaktoolik won it with a final of 58-56.
