Response to Hazardous Substance Emergency Events

Alaska's Public Health reporting regulations require health care providers to report outbreaks or unusual incidences of disease that are known or suspected to be related to environmental exposure to a toxic substance.

To report illness due to a hazardous substance release emergency or other environmental exposure to a toxic substance, please call the Section of Epidemiology:
- During regular business hours:
1-907-269-8000
- After hours, for a public health emergency: 1-800-478-0084

To report a hazardous substance release, please call the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) at
1-800-478-9300. You can also report a spill online at:
www.dec.state.ak.us/spar/spillreport.htm.
