Troopers Investigate Kaltag Murder Attempt

Shortly before 10 a.m Wednesday, 49-year-old Darrell Semaken Sr. reportedly shot Ronald Pitka Sr., 51, before turning the gun on himself.

Alaska State Troopers are investigating an attempted murder-suicide in the village of Kaltag.

Shortly before 10 a.m Wednesday, 49-year-old Darrell Semaken Sr. reportedly shot Ronald Pitka Sr., 51, before turning the gun on himself.

Semaken was declared dead at the scene, but Pitka survived the shooting and was flown to the Alaska Native Medical Center, where he's being treated for unknown injuries.
