Three Contenders for Eagle River-Chugiak Assembly Seat
Candidates question conservative credentials
ANCHORAGE - Three candidates for an Eagle River-Chugiak seat on the Anchorage Assembly faced off at the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce's candidates’ forum Monday.
Demboski, apparently on the basis that she thinks Mulcahy is her main opponent, touted herself as the only registered Republican in the race and questioned his conservative credentials.
"You're running as a conservative. How do you reconcile the fact that you have a number of Democrats, prominent Democrats -- such as Patrick Flynn -- supporting you?"
Mulcahy responded, "What are we at, 20, 25 thousand dollars, and I have two $25 donations from Democrats. Yeah, so that's probably indicative that's where my support's coming from -- $50 out of $25,000."
The candidates are vying for the seat being vacated by Debbie Ossiander, who could not run again because of term limits.
