Finishing off the summer in style, hundreds gathered at the Anchorage Market and Festival in the heart of downtown for its last day of the season this past Sunday.

Known as a hot spot for homemade souvenirs, gifts and fresh produce, visitors and locals alike make the weekly weekend visit to hear live music or just grab something tasty to eat.

And while the market's vendors will now go to warmer climates, they plan to return next summer.

"This is our favorite market for now. We do Saturday and Sunday—we'll probably do it again next year. We're going to go to some of the other markets now that this one's closed," said David Newcomb of Babbling Brook Farm.

If you missed out on the final day of the downtown market, there are other Anchorage markets open through October, including: the Anchorage Farmers Market, Center Market, the South Anchorage Farmer's Market and the Northway Mall Wednesday Market.
