"Campaigning is a manifestation of commitment to the job, and getting out and meeting constituents and listening to their concerns is a big piece of campaigning, but it's also the major reason for serving."

Arness responded: "I'm a real estate broker, I'm a set-netter in the inlet, I have other things going on this summer. You know, if i'm elected, I will restructure that. But for the purposes of this summer, all I can do is what I can do. And if I can't devote the full time to it, maybe I should apologize, but I don't really feel like I should have to."    

On Tuesday, Republican voters in Senate District N will choose a nominee.

There are no Democrats running in the district.

But a non-affiliated candidate, Ron Devon, could be placed on the November election ballot, if enough signatures on his nominating petition are verified.

hu...any associations with Sarah Palin's Ritcher Investments on the Kenai with fishing lodges? Word is a federal court date is coming up...better start shredding all documents eh boys and girls?

It IS the ONLY reason for holding public office. Representing citizens in state government. There is NO other reason to run for elected office. Period.

Cathy Giessel has been another 'Lance Pruitt', They DIDNT DO IT! Not at home, Not in Juneau, All they both did, was try to give-away Alaskas Resource Revenue to the Oil Companys. You know what Richard Giessel and Son, tried to convince me of? That we NEEDED TO GIVEAWAY Alaskas Revenue to the employers of R. Giessel & Son.. Because they both work for an oil company.. Im the ONLY Central committee and Executive Committee member to vote NO, on Republican Support for the Governors Tax-cut bill HB110!! oO{ Your welcome Alaskans, For our successful effort to kill HB110 and SB192 in the last Legislative Session. }

FYI - her bill didn't fill any significant unmet need for Alaska's children. Mechanisms already exist. Public Health Service, SCHIP (Denali KidCare), Medicaid/Medicare, Community Health Clinics and other federal programs have immunizations pretty well covered. When it comes to uninsured children who need stitches and have broken arms, that's another issue. Giessel is part of the governor's tactics to hold hostage Denali KidCare and state coverage for medical care, with their private agenda of anti-abortion legislation. I have no respect for that.
