Heads Up Alaska: Making A Difference

Meet a traumatic brain injury survivor who beat the odds twice

By Photojournalist Nick Swann

ANCHORAGE - When we were researching traumatic brain injury (TBI) for our "Heads Up Alaska" series, we discovered someone who was just as popular as the topic itself.

It’s almost a guarantee when you talk to someone in Alaska’s TBI community that this man is mentioned either in the first sentence or shortly there after.

We found him to be an inspiration to many, which is why we felt it important to share a little bit about him.

He is a TBI survivor who twice beat the odds and never gave up. Now he is giving back and making a huge difference.

CBS 11 photojournalist Nick Swann brings you the story of Frank Box.

You give me such hope, sir. Maybe I don't have to go this so alone after all. Now, if I can just get into the city ...
