Child Hit and Killed Accidentally By Her MotherOne-year-old Vanessa Thao was hit and killed by her mother's minivanANCHORAGE – One-year-old Vanessa Thao was hit and killed by her mother's Toyota minivan off of Muldoon Road around 3:15 P.M. Monday afternoon, according to Anchorage police. Officials performed life-saving procedures at the scene before taking Thao to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Lieutenant Dave Parker said the "tragic accident" occurred because the mother thought her daughter was still in the house when she was leaving the family's home.

I would surely be in that line referred to by akjulie for this poor woman. This has to rank near the top of the most difficult to live with list. Our hearts go out to you and your family.

I agree with you akjulie, how horrible for a mother to have to live with this for the rest of her life. My prayers for her and her family. I couldnt imagine the pain she is feeling, it must be unbearable.

This is tragedy compounded. Horrific enough to lose a child, but to be part of the cause? I wish everyone in Alaska could line up and give this woman a big hug, and offer their support. My deepest sympathies to this mother and the family.
