Some awkward running didn't stop Fur Rendezvous snowshoe softball players from rounding the bases and having fun.

The Sunday afternoon snowshoe teams braved the cold and shook off a little cabin fever at 16th and Cordova Street in downtown Anchorage.

Players say the one-pitch tournament keeps the game moving fast even though participants themselves might be a bit slower with snowshoes on.

Playing softball in the summer is one thing but it's a whole other game in the winter.

"I play a lot myself, but getting together a team in the winter time, everyone is interested, everybody is wanting to come out and experience this Fur Rondy tradition. For a lot of the people this is their first time swinging a bat, but we had fun and that was our number one goal-to come out here and have fun," said snowshoe softball player Hollis Versyp.

Although it's too late to play this year since it is a Rondy tradition there's always a chance to participate in next year's tournament.
